>>> privacy policy Your Server. Your Keys. Your Business
No account, no middleman for your terminal, no trackers in the app. Here's exactly what RETRO TMUX keeps, where, and for how long.
Last updated: 29 September 2026
RETRO TMUX ("the app") is made by LEX GLOBAL IT S.R.L., Viișoara, Romania ("we"). This policy explains what the RETRO TMUX apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the website retrotmux.com, do with your data. Contact: .
The short version
- There is no RETRO TMUX account. You never sign up with us to use the app.
- The app connects directly from your device to your own server over SSH. What you type and what your terminal shows never pass through our servers.
- Your server addresses, usernames, SSH keys and passwords stay on your device, in Apple's Keychain.
- The app uses no advertising, no tracking and no third-party analytics, and we never sell data.
- The only data that reaches a server of ours is what is needed to deliver agent alerts to your phone, if you turn them on (below).
What stays on your device
- The servers you add (name, address, port, username) and the app's settings are stored on your device.
- SSH keys the app creates or you import, and any passwords you choose to save, are stored in Apple's Keychain on your device.
- Terminal contents, command history used for command bookmarks, and uploaded or downloaded files are handled on your device and your server only.
What the app puts on your server
When you turn on Agent status, the app installs small helper scripts in your server account (~/.retro-tmux) and adds entries to your AI agents' own settings files (for example Claude Code, Codex, Hermes), so the app can show WORKING / NEEDS YOU / DONE. These files stay on your server. Turning Agent status off removes them and restores your settings. Survive reboots, if you turn it on, stores a small record of your tmux sessions on your server.
Agent alerts (optional)
If you turn on push alerts, your phone can show your agents' state on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island, and you can approve, deny or answer an agent from there. For this we run a small relay service at retrotmux.com. It works like this:
- What the relay stores: your device's Apple push token, a random secret created on your device (stored only as a one-way hash), a fingerprint of your server's public host key, a random identifier the app gives each server you add, the server account label (such as
user@server, used only when two of your accounts share one server so alerts show which one), which kinds of alerts you want, and timestamps. For Live Activities it also stores the short-lived Activity tokens Apple gives your device; these are deleted when the card ends or after 8 hours at most. - What passes through it: when an agent needs you or finishes, the helper on your server sends the relay the agent's name, the tmux session and window, and the text of the question or command it is asking about (for example "Allow
npm test?"). The relay forwards this to Apple's Push Notification service so it can appear on your device. Your answer (Approve, Deny, or the option you chose) travels back the same way. Questions waiting for an answer are kept in the relay's memory for at most 15 minutes; answers for at most 2 minutes; they are not written to disk. - Logs: the relay's operating logs record technical events such as the agent's name, the session and window names and whether a notification was delivered. They do not record the question text or your answers. Logs are deleted automatically after 7 days.
- Turning it off: turn push alerts off in the app, or remove the app, and your registration stops being used; you can ask us to delete it at any time.
- Apple's Push Notification service is operated by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether a subscription or trial is active.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, or send feedback in TestFlight, Apple shares crash reports and that feedback with us. They contain technical information about the crash, not your terminal contents.
Website and beta sign-up
When you sign up for the beta on retrotmux.com, we collect the details you enter (email address, optional name, your device, the agents you use, your server type and any notes) to invite you to test and contact you about RETRO TMUX. The form sends them to us by email; we keep that email until the beta ends or you ask us to delete it, and we do not share your details with anyone else.
retrotmux.com uses Statcounter to count visits and see which pages are read and where visitors come from. When a page loads, your browser sends Statcounter the page address, the referring page, your IP address, screen size and browser details, and Statcounter may set a cookie to recognise returning visitors. We use these statistics only to improve the website. The app itself contains no analytics.

Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive a copy. Write to us at . You may also complain to the Romanian data protection authority (ANSPDCP) or your local authority.
